How to rate a business as a customer: timely payments, transparency and values

All review platforms look in one direction: buyers review sellers. But sellers also gain experience with their customers, and that experience is valuable to the next supplier. This guide explains what to evaluate, how to describe it with facts and where to publish it: PosRank is the only platform where a business has a public rating as a customer.

Why nobody had let you rate your customers before

Google, Trustpilot, Clutch, Sortlist and G2 exist to help buyers make better decisions. Their business models depend on sellers paying for profiles, advertising and tools; public ratings by those sellers about their customers do not fit that model. The result is a gap: a supplier receiving a proposal from an unfamiliar business has nowhere to check whether it pays on time or changes the scope every week.

PosRank separates three audiences on each business profile: customers, employees, and suppliers and partners. Each has its own star rating, count and NPS. A business can therefore have 4.7 from customers and 2.9 from suppliers, and both figures are displayed without mixing them.

The six criteria evaluated

To make ratings comparable across businesses, PosRank proposes the same criteria to every supplier. You do not need to score each one separately: they serve as a guide for a complete opinion.

  • Timely payments: does it meet the agreed deadline without you having to chase invoices?
  • Transparency: are scope, price and terms written down and maintained throughout the project?
  • Communication: is there a clear point of contact, timely responses and decisions that are not reversed?
  • Respect and values: are you treated as a partner or a disposable resource? Is there consistency between words and actions?
  • Honoring agreements: exclusivity, approvals, inputs and termination terms.
  • Recommended as a customer: would you work with the business again and recommend it to another supplier?

How to write a useful opinion

A good supplier opinion resembles a short report, not a rant. Explain which service you provided and for how long, what was agreed and what actually happened, with approximate dates and no confidential information (exact amounts, people's names or internal documents). Close with what you would do differently or recommend to another supplier.

Avoid adjectives without facts. “Paid three out of four invoices 45 days late” carries more weight than “terrible customer”. If the experience was good, be equally specific: “payments always within 30 days, scope changes always in writing”. Businesses that behave well deserve recognition; that is half the value of this category.

Where to publish it and how it is verified

Find the business in PosRank's business explorer and open its profile. If it has activated its supplier and partner widget, you will see an invitation to share your opinion; otherwise, you can request the direct link or create its profile for the business to claim later. When submitting, confirm your email with a one-time code: PosRank then knows there is a real person behind it, without ever publishing your address.

Up to two words of your name are shown by default; if you prefer, choose Anonymous when submitting. There are no rewards of any kind in this category, so nobody can buy a rating as a customer. In addition to the review, you can answer the partner NPS: one question from 0 to 10, published as an anonymous aggregate when the business enables it.

What the business does with your opinion

The business sees it in its dashboard and can respond publicly. It cannot delete it; it can only request a review if it breaches authenticity policies. Supplier opinions contribute to the “Suppliers and partners” star rating on the profile and reputation radar, and remain visible to other suppliers, candidates, investors and AI assistants consulting PosRank.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rate a business that is no longer my customer?

Yes, as long as the experience is real and recent. State when you worked with the business so readers can put the opinion in context.

Will the business know who rated it?

It will see the public name you chose (up to two words) or “Anonymous”. PosRank uses your email only to verify that you are a real person; it is not published or given to the business.

What if the business is not on PosRank?

You can create its profile from the explorer. It remains unclaimed until the business claims it; verified opinions are published in the meantime.

Published by the PosRank team. Each platform's policies change; always check the current version before requesting reviews.
